Happy to report we had a FABULOUS holiday on the Gold Coast which is actually our home town. It had been two years since we last saw our family and friends and have vowed we won’t leave it two years before we go back home for a holiday again!
We stayed at the Ocean Side Resort on Golden Four Drive at Bilinga right on the beach and the views were fabulous and the Gold Coast truly lived up to it’s reputation as beautiful one day and perfect the next.
How’s this for an oceanside view?
This is what we woke up to every morning. You can’t blame a girl for not wanting to leave can you?
And now for the best part of my holiday…
FABRIC SHOPPING… YEAH!
My darling hubby spoilt me rotten and was patient enough to visit three different fabric shops with me. Not only did he come fabric shopping with me but he actually helped me pick out most of my fabrics and he even paid for them. I won’t tell you how much we spent but will confess it was far more than I would have spent if I had of gone fabric shopping on my own. So I will definitely be taking my hubby with me again fabric shopping when ever I can. He sure is a wonderful hubby and I’m so grateful that he supports my sewing and fabric shopping addiction LOL.
Here’s a pic of my hubby (Grant) actually paying for one lot of fabric we bought… gotta love a man who does that for you? He’s definitely a keeper 🙂
Here’s the result of our fabric shopping spree.
I definitely had my fix of fabric shopping to last me awhile and the memory of it will last with me for a very long time. I can’t explain in words how exciting our fabric shopping expedition was and for those of you of love fabric shopping as much as I do I probably don’t need to as I’m sure you can probably relate to how I felt as I walked through those beautiful fabric shops exploring, touching, draping and drooling over 100s of bolts of fabric. It was actually quite overwhelming and really hard trying to decide what fabric to buy… especially when you don’t know exactly what you’re looking for or exactly what you’re going to make with it. Looking at the fabric choices I made I’m getting the feeling that I have a thing for animal print along with red and black. Maybe it’s a fabric phase I’m going through? Who knows but I do know one thing and that’s that I love everyone piece of fabric we purchased on our fabric shopping trip!
Now I just need to find the time to enjoy sewing all these beautiful fabrics in between continuing with my fashion design studies. I’ve set aside some of the fabric I purchased for my course projects… that’s if I don’t give in to temptation and decide to make myself something from the collection I bought before then.
Besides all the wonderful fabric what else came home with me from my holiday?
A Janome 10000 embroidery machine is what came home with me on the plane along with lots of embroidery threads. My wonderful mother in-law Kerry gave me an early inheritance gift and I can’t tell you how excited and how grateful I am to her for being so generous. I’ll have to share more about my the new addition to my little family in another post as I haven’t yet taken any pictures to share with you yet. But I can say that beautiful old machine is sitting proudly on my sewing table right beside my Janome 8900 and she sews like a dream!
