You can make each dress look glamorous or you can make them look more casual simply by changing the fabrics and the way you choose to embellish each garment.
I’ve designed these dresses to have classic clean simple lines that look great just as they are, or you can use your own creativity and have fun embellishing either the bodice, the skirt or the whole dress from the inside to the outside.
The high low skirt is a great opportunity for you to have fun and go subtle or go wild with what ever fabrics you decide. Pretty prints or luxurious fabrics can be used for the skirt lining and make a fabulous feature of this stunning glamorous design with the way the skirt cascades and shows off each layer of fabric.
Below are the 3 different size patterns and some pictures of a variety of the dresses I’ve made to give you a little inspiration for you when you sew your dolls some beautiful modern dresses using any of the Glamour Girl doll sewing patterns for you to choose from.
Glamour Girl designed to fit 18″ dolls
This doll sewing pattern has been designed to fit American Girl & Australian Girl dolls and it also fits similar size dolls including Our Generation, Madame Alexander, and even cute little Baby Born dolls.
Glamour Girl designed to fit Kidz N Cats dolls and similar size slim dolls.
I’ve made so many Glamour Girl dresses and I think this probably one of my favourite versions of the dresses I’ve made, simply because of the gorgeous fabric I used to make the polka dot dresses.
For both the reversible one shoulder and the strapless versions of the Kidz N Cats doll’s dresses I used a gorgeous purple/blue satin for the reversible side and then I used the same gorgeous satin and basted a the polka dot silk organza to the satin fabric pieces before sewing the dress. It really adds an extra special touch of Glamour to both of these dresses. It’s a really easy technique to do and it adds quite a stunning effect. If you’d like me to do a tutorial on how to baste fabrics together when sewing a project like this let me know in the comments below and I’ll put together a tutorial for you .
Glamour Girl designed to fit Journey Girl dolls and most 18″ slim dolls
For the Journey Girl doll’s wedding dress I used a stunning white bridal raw silk fabric and then lined the dress using a pretty white floral self print silk and attached the gems to the bodice to add in a little extra special touch.
You can probably see now why I called this doll sewing pattern Glamour Girl. It really doesn’t matter whether you use a pretty cotton or stunning silk or whether you choose the cute little gathered skirt or the long high low train, whether you decide to make you dress reversible or not, whether you choose the one shoulder bodice or the strapless bodice, each dress you sew has a little touch of glamour.

Very cute, Chris. It looks like you’ve been putting in some work. I like the name of your company with the angel and sparkles. I’m still trying to figure out what to do with my name. Nice job.
Thank you 🙂 I’ve been having a little fun with my branding. I decided I’ll stay with using my name for my patterns as I figure it’s me that’s designing them so Chris Lucas Designs it is hahaha. Who knows that may change later down the track but for now I’m happy with it 🙂
