It’s the first skirt I’ve made for 2013 and I love it!
What I really like about this pattern is it’s simple lines and how easy it is to sew… it’s definitely a great pattern for anyone who’s new to sewing and is looking for an easy pattern to start with. I made a couple of minor changes to the pattern including adding 4inches to the length as I don’t have the best looking legs you’ve ever seen and added a lining.
Looking at these pictures I think I could have added another couple of inches as I wouldn’t have mined it even a little longer. I was a little cautious and didn’t want to add to much length in case the flair around the lower part of the skirt didn’t look right but I think it would have been fine. I’ve made a note of this on my pattern for next time I use this pattern.
This is the New Look 6609 pattern and the fabric I used which is a rayon challis from Fabric.com and was only $5.58 per yard and I only used around 2.

Personally I think the New Look 6609 pattern is a winner and a keeper and is quite flattering and slimming for a fuller figured woman like myself.
I’d love to know your thoughts on the New Look 6609 pattern… is it a keeper?

It sure has been hot you've even been getting higher than usual temperatures down in Perth. Definitely looking forward to some cooler weather

I also find it very fun to "meet" people from all over the world, it's very interesting to see how other people are doing things! The only problem I have is that my English isn't the best so I hope you forgive my faults when I'm wrigting. After all, it's nice to have google translate…;) I also have to make another ducktape dressform since I have finally managed to loose some weight, but since i can't persuade my partner to do it again my mother will help me instead:). HI Flora… I just visited your blog and was able to translate it… wow you are all the way from Sweden. I love how the internet makes it possible to meet and make new friends from all around the world. Thank you for the compliment. I also love your duct tape dress form. I too had one but I lost some weight and now need to make another one. I've bought the duct tape and just have to get my hubby to wrap me in it. I have a dress form but no matter how I adjust her she just doesn't look like me… I have a few more curves than she does and the when I made my last duct tape form I simply put the duct tape form over the top and padded underneath and it was perfect. Definitely need to do it again

Thanks Leslie and I too hadn't lined anything that didn't have it in the pattern. I'm so glad I did with this skirt as the fabric was a little sheer for me… especially with the sun shining through it. I too have been sewing for years. I had a break for a few years… not sure why… but I'm glad I found my passion for it yet once again. This year my goal is to improve upon my skills and learn some of the finer details of sewing… I'm self taught and thanks to the internet it's so easy to access so many great tutorials and tips from some amazing people who are so willing to share… love it!

Very pretty skirt! I think I have that same pattern, but haven't used it yet. Will have to give it a try this year and perhaps try lining it. Even though I've sewn for many years, I've never actually lined anything – crazy! It's on my to-do list of things to learn this year.

I get all my Bemberg from Fabric.com – my local fabric chain, Fabricland, sells it for $16/m – so I am happy to pay the postage from the US!

Thanks Lena and I think I got this lining from Fabric.com and it's probably cheaper to buy overseas even including the shipping costs. I haven't found anywhere in Australian online stores where I can buy this yet. I don't have any fabric stores near me so I have to buy all my fabric online.

I just took another look at the pic and it is actually quite a nice photo my hubby took. I've actually been lucky as he got a new dsl camera for xmas and doesn't seem to mind playing with his camera and taking some pics for me. I actually feel like I look gorgeous in this outfit as well… which I think is a big help as when we feel good we seem to shine just a little more as well. Thank you for the lovely compliment

I can't recall which online fabric store I got it from but I can remember it was a bargain at $5 and thought I should buy a lot more than 10mtrs of it. It could have been fabric.com … I even just had a look through my fabric purchase receipts and find this one. It was a while ago that I got it. Here's hoping I can get it on special again… might have to do a little googling to find out who's got the best price for it as I think I'll buy a lot more than 10mtrs next time as I love having this in my stash
