Plus Size Pattern Pyramid & Blog Awards

Starting a sewing blog was one of the best decisions I’ve made for quite some time.

Not only has starting my sewing blog been a great way to keep track of what I sew but there’s been unexpected pleasures and bonuses that I hadn’t even thought of that have come my way.

First off… the amount of wonderful new sewing friends I’ve made and how welcoming and supportive the online sewing community from across the globe have been is nothing more than amazing and I thank each and everyone of you and all those who come along long after I share this post.

Plus Size Pattern Pyramid… I’m a Winner!

Plus Size Pattern Pyramid LogoHow exciting is this… on Valentines Day I won the Plus Size Pattern Pyramid thanks to Lisa H‘s daughter drawing my name out of the hat.

To see all the fabulous patterns coming my way visit Lisa’s site… I can’t tell you how excited I am.  Lisa emailed me today to let me know she’s popped them in the post so they hopefully will be here within a couple of weeks or so as they’re coming all the way from Macon, Ga, United States

When the patterns arrive I get to choose any of the patterns I’d like to keep for myself and then replace them with the same amount of patterns from my pattern stash.  Then I’ll be hosting Plus Size Pattern Pyramid competition for you.  If you’d like a chance to win and don’t want to miss out you can subscribe to my blog and then you’ll receive updates each time I share a post.  I’ll be sure to dedicate a post just to the Plus Size Pattern Pyramid competition so as you don’t miss it out on the chance of being the next Plus Size Pattern Pyramid winner :)

Now for the Blog Awards!

How’s this… I was nominated for not one, not two, not three… but four blog awards from some wonderful sewing blogger friends!

First off I was nominated by the love Catja from Gjeometry for the following awards

one-lovely-blog-awardvery-inspiring-blogger-award-2premio blog award

These awards have some “Official Rules” and here’s what they are:

For the Very Inspiring Blogger, One Lovely Blog, and Premio Awards

1) Thank and link back to the awesome person who nominated you.

So I’d like to thank Catja from Gjeometry for presenting me with my triplets.  I have to confess I love snooping around Catja’s blog… you might even call me a little sewing peeping Tom… mmm I like to think of myself as a sewing snoop… what about you do you love snooping around sewing blogs and seeing all the amazing things people are sewing and sharing… well if I’m right you probably do to!

2) Share seven things about yourself.

I’ve listed those further down… hang on don’t go there yet… but then again if you’re in hurry… jump down below, no one will know and no one’s watching… wink wink

3) Nominate ten other bloggers and comment on their blogs to let them know.

The Premio Award also recognises people who comment on other blogs and the rules are you nominate nine bloggers who last commented on yours… I’ve added a twist to this one and you can read about it further below… these awards could be coming to you :)

The forth award I received was the…

Liebster Award

I received this award from BeaJay at On the Road to Sew Wear and from Tiger Girl from Tiger Girl Adventures

The Rules for this Award are:
  • Post 11 facts about yourself
  • Answer the 11 questions posed by your nominator <<< I was lucky as BeaJay didn’t post any questions for me.. and seeing as though Bea Jay nominated me first I’m going to stick with sharing what ever comes to mind first :)
  • Nominate up to 5 other blogs and ask them 11 questions of your own <<< See the Twist further down below for this one :)

So here we go with 11 things / facts you might not know about me:

1.  I’m a selfish seamstress…

I mean really selfish I’ve only ever made my hubby a sloppy joe and track pants and a pair of boxer shorts, and that was many years ago.  He wore the sloppy joe & track pants until they wore out and he’s always wanted me to make him another set and I never have and we’ve been together for 25years.  See I told you I was selfish… heeheee.

2.  I gave my hubby a sewing promise for Christmas

I even wrapped it up and put it under the Christmas tree.  He’s posted it on the fridge and he’s going to make sure I fulfil my promise or he said he’ll take the sewing machine he bought me for Christmas off of me. Here’s the note I gave him and you can bet your life this is one promise I’m keeping as I don’t want to risk losing this little baby

3.  I’m spoilt… and I love it!

My hubby spoils me rotten and I love him dearly.  I love my hubby more today than I did the day I married him… he’s still the man of my dreams and still makes my heart flutter.

4.  I started sewing when I was around ten years old (36yrs ago)

… yes I’m 46 years old.

My first sewing machine was a toy sewing machine my mother Santa gave me for a Christmas present… oh how I loved that little machine… I use to sew on it everyday making clothes for my barbies and for myself.  About a year later my mother bought herself a new machine and gave me her old one and I thought I was so grown up LOL.

5.  I’m grateful that we moved to a remote mining town!

The reason is I having nothing to do after work and ended up getting back into my sewing and I haven’t stopped.  I’ve re-ignited my old passion and I can’t tell you how good it feels to be back doing something I LOVE!

6.  I’ve enrolled to study Fashion Design & Technology

Yes… I’ve enrolled to complete Certificate IV in Fashion Design and Technology online.  Goes to show doesn’t matter how remote you are… when you’ve got a passion, a little determination, a computer and internet access you can do anything you want!

7.  Now this one is a really personal one….

My husband and I are exploring the option of having another attempt at IVF.  I had a growth on my uterous removed in December and got the all clear and after talking to the specialist we’ve decided to give IVF one more go.  My chances are extremely low but I think it’s worth giving it a shot as you just never know.  Over the next few months there’s going to be quite a few tests and a few flights down to Perth (about 1800kms away) to visit the clinic… our first appointment is 22nd April.  I  can see a little fabric shopping opportunity coming up LOL

8.  I really don’t like cooking but I do like eating LOL.

My hubby is the main cook in our house and I’m the main cleaner and it works quite well for both of us.

9.  I have a shoe fetish…

I love, love, love shoes!  And yes I even love my steel cap boots that I have to wear to work… only because I got myself a purple pair :)

Here’s what I got when I went to Kmart last week… hey they were only between $5 & $15 so what’s a girl do when there’s a sale like that?

Shoe Shopping

10. I’m a reformed chocoholic

Yes I still love chocolate but now it’s just an occasional treat

11.  I’m scared of the dark

I thought I would have grown out of this long before now but even at 46 years old and still a scaredy cat LOL

So there you go there’s 11 things you might not have known about me… I think that’s enough about me and now it’s time to move on to YOU!

Passing on these fabulous awards… with a Twist

I’m meant to pass along these blog awards and there’s so many I’d love to give them to but I’m changing things up a little and adding my own twist.

It seems so many people I wanted to give these awards to have already been nominated for them so if you’d like to receive one of these awards or even all of them simply leave a comment below and let me know and I’ll drop by your blog and leave a comment letting you know you’ve won the award/s… be sure to get in quick as I’m going to set a closing date for 1st March 2013 to issue the awards!

…. Don’t forget to subscribe to my blog if you’d like to receive updates each time I share a blog post and to make sure you don’t miss out on the chance to enter the Plus Size Pattern Pyramid.

I just want to warn you I’m stalking your blog for the pattern pyramid, lol!
I would love to know where you are studying the fashion design course through? I live out in the country as well and have nowhere locally who offers it (I am so envious of those who live in Melbourne some days!). Thanks!

Hahahaha oh a stalker… how exciting LOL. I’ll be sure to share a blog post to let you know when the pattern pyramid arrives and what exiting things are in there. Can’t wait to decide what to keep and what to share back again. I’m definitely going to choose something from the pyramid and make it for sure :) I’m so envious of those who live in the cities and have access to colleges or places that run face to face classes as it’s not easy via distance education. I’m doing my course through http://www.fashiondesigncollege.edu.au/ but have only just started and I’m not feeling very confident but ah well time will tell LOL.

It’s never too late to learn and luckily we now have so many resources available to us it’s great. Luckily I learned to sew the basics when I was young and have only recently taken back up sewing again and am loving it and am still building upon my sewing skills and learning along the way :)
